If you enter the town centre through Bernolák’s gate, it is almost impossible to overlook St. Jacob Church, a.k.a. the Franciscan church. Its predecessor was built in the 14th century and consequently rebuilt many times due to numerous fires and other misfortunes. The building had gone through pre-Gothic and Gothic style in the past, however, the current look of the building is Baroque style and the interior is Classic style.
Some of the jewels this church is hiding definitely include the organ from 1905, built by the renowned company Gebrüder Rieger, which has 30 registers, 2 manuals and pedal. Another curiosity is the crypt in the underground, open to public once a year, or the Franciscan monastery located right next to the church.
